Using Photos to tell a story/NFL

This week in class we focused primarily on how to tell a story using photos, it's actually quite interesting on what is required from all of it in order to have a good story. Also photos can be interpreted in so many different ways, that a person has to take good shots and make show their story is apparent to the audience. When I did my assignment for this, I forgot the most crucial part of the a photo story, the establishing shot. If I had that shot, my story would have been complete and better.

Just a note on the NFL, this week my Bears take on the Packers in a fight for the North, it should be quite the game and I am really hoping the Bears take this one to go 3-0.

Photoshopping/ more NFL

The past two weeks of class, we have been learning about photoshop and taking pictures. It is all very interesting stuff. With photoshop you really can do whatever you want to with a photo, especially improving it. I feel it is good for everyone to know how to use photoshop if you ever wanted to fix a picture. For assignment we have to put up pictures on here that tell a story so I will be doing that quite shortly.

I've decided my other part for this blog will be my own personal thoughts on the NFL. Last week there were many good games and upsets in the NFL. Who knew that Arian Foster could beat the colts and running for 231 yards, or that the speed of Kansas City would beat the Chargers. My favorite team also had  quite the finish. I am and forever will be a Chicago Bears fan and when I saw Calvin Johnson come down with that ball, I felt the anger arising inside me. However when it was overturned and all the officials explained why, I now know why it was ruled an incomplete pass. Yes I do think Calvin Johnson palmed that ball and just let it go, but if he would have read the new rule he would have came up with the ball and then threw it down. It's too bad Johnson, it was an amazing grab.

Class/ NFL

So this week in class we were taught how to take pictures correctly and how to use photoshop. I had a class earlier in highschool all about technology so I already knew some things about photoshop. It was interesting to hear how much it has advanced in four years, and although i was clearly getting sidetracked from just wanting to use photoshop, it was quite informational.

On a side note, this weekend is the opening weekend for the NFL with the first game tonight. I am so excited for this weekend, I am just a huge Chicago Bears fan and I can't help but love the NFL. Tonight I feel that Brett Favre will play well, however the Saints will dominate still. All I can say is Who dat said dat gonna beat dem Saints?

First Post

Hello,

My name is Zach Geren and this is my blog about my digital storytelling class at Marquette. We had our second class today, and it went pretty well. We spent our first hour discussing our stories that we had to write about. Mine discussed how I met, took a picture with, and shook hands with Doc Rivers. It was quite exciting to meet the Boston Celtics headcoach. Another good story that made me think was about a boy missing his dog. Having two dogs myself it made me think about them and how a dog can really be a man's best friend.
That's all for now
